Lindsey Buckingham and Jon
I was called in a couple of weeks ago to help out on the L.A. shoot for a BBC TV
documentary set to air in May titled "Rock and Roll Band". Its a five-part series with each part dedicated to examining a specific role in the Rock band, including lead guitar, vocalist, drummer, bassist, and "other"... Before I'm even called they have already filmed a series of interviews in London with Townshend, Daltrey, Sting, The Edge, Ginger Baker, Slash and a bunch more. The same bloke whom I collaborated with on the Dennis Wilson doc. happened to be directing the Guitar episode, he flew in from London and asked me to help him conduct his L.A. interviews last week. We were also doing a few "pick ups" for the other episodes so we weren't restricted to guitarists only. Beginning Monday Feb. 8th we...myself, the director Matt O' Casey, along with the cameraman John Halliday and sound man Sandy Fellerman set out on a five day odyssey which included interviews with Gene Simmons(Kiss), Peter Frampton, Billy Gibbons(ZZ Top), Andy Summers(Police), Lindsey Buckingham(Fleetwood Mac), Eric Burdon(Animals, War), Keith Emerson(ELP), Chad Smith(Red Hot Chili Peppers), Steve Vai, and a guy named Dave Marks?? I was really geeked out all week, working hard, but also kind of floating in a surreal classic rock stupor. The photos reflect my state.
